A Stanardsville man was arrested following a shooting incident at the Dominion Squad Shopping Center this morning.
On April 9, at approximately 09:10 am, the Culpeper County E-911 Center received a call of a shooting that just occurred in the 700-block of James Madison Hwy. Upon arrival at this location, officers made contact with the uninjured 49-year old male victim. Following the shooting, the suspect involved in this incident fled the scene but was quickly located by officers.
Detectives with the Culpeper Police Department responded to the shooting scene to collect evidence and interview witnesses. As a result of this incident and investigation, the Culpeper Police Department has charged Anthony Randall Richards, 51, of Stanardsville, Virginia, with one count of felony shooting a firearm from a vehicle. Richards is being held in the Culpeper County Jail on a secured bond.
Based on the investigation, it was determined that Richards and the victim had been traveling together inside a vehicle. An argument ensued and then Richards fired a gun from inside the vehicle.
