Jealousy, murder and madness — it’s all part of the show. The Manassas Ballet Theatre presents Georges Bizet’s “Carmen,” a classic French opera this weekend. The story, set in Spain, is about a beautiful woman, Carmen, who romances Don José, a soldier. He soon falls into madness.

The ballet starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday at Grace E. Metz Middle School, 9950 Wellington Road, Manassas. 703-257-1811, http://www.manassasballet.org or .

Manassas Community Chorale
Romance is in the air for the Manassas Community Chorale. Well, romantic-era composers, that is. The Manassas Community Chorale’s spring concert will feature music such as “Schubert Mass in G,” Mendelssohn’s “Psalm 150” and “William Tell Overture” by Rossini, to name a few.
The Chorale will also be collecting supplies for Traditional Housing BARN Inc., a non-profit organization that provides supportive services, housing and skills to homeless women and their children. Please bring diapers, paper towels, toilet paper, pull-ups, napkins, wipes or energy saving light bulbs to donate.
The program begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Manassas Baptist Church, 8730 Sudley Road, Manassas. $10, free for under 12. Tickets available at the door or in advance, by check only, at the Music and Arts Center in Westgate Plaza, 8029 Sudley Road, Manassas. 703-335-6362 or 703-368-0883 or http://www.manassascommunitychorale.org.
