Prince William County is a hot bed for jobseekers

The Washington metropolitan area has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the United States.

The latest report put it at 2.6 percent.

This makes the area a hotbed for job seekers, ranging those from retail to corporate.

To help both employers and employees with job placement, job fairs promoted by chambers are often conducted.

The county’s Office of Economic Development, 10530 Linden Lake Plaza, in Manassas publishes numerous booklets regarding the economic climate and business community. For more information call (703) 792-5500.

Residents may file for unemployment benefits or find job-seeking services at the Prince William office of the Virginia Employment Commission at 13370 Minnieville Road, Woodbridge or call (703) 897-0407.

The school system employs the largest number of workers, 9,000. Other large employers are the Prince William Hospital and Potomac Hospital, both 1,300; Lockheed Martin, 1,200; and Micron, 1,200.
