Good morning Manassas and Manassas Park ...

The Manassas City School Board will hold its final summer meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Architectural firm VMDO is scheduled to present a detailed schematic of the new Baldwin Elementary School.

The school will be built on the same grounds as the current facility on Main Street just south of Old Town. The school board has earmarked up to $500,000 for preliminary design costs for the school, which has been initially estimated to cost $30 million.

The Manassas Museum will be open Labor Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum, at 9101 Prince William St., will be closed every Monday for the remainder of the year.

Stop by to shop or to view the latest exhibits. Adult admission is $4, seniors and children $3 and children under 6 are free.

The city of Manassas Park is continuing its mosquito control program this week. Truck-mounted spraying will start Thursday after 10 p.m. and run through Friday evening.

If you wish to be excluded, please contact Public Works at 703-335-8686 no later than Tuesday.

The Manassas Park Fire and Rescue Department will be testing fire hydrants Monday, Sept. 8, through the end of October. This process will ensure the fire hydrants are properly maintained and operating in case of an emergency.

During these months you may experience cloudy water for a short period of time. This is caused by water flowing through the lines and breaking away sediment and mineral deposits. The deposits are washed from the system through fire hydrants.

However, some residue my still be present in the lines. If you experience cloudy water, run your cold water until it clears up.  If you have any questions, contact the water department at 703-393-0881.
