Armed man barricades self in VDOT office parking lot

STAFFORD—A 27-year-old armed man barricaded himself inside a car in the parking lot of the Virginia Depart-ment of Transportation office on Deacon Road in Stafford.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Terrance Flemmons of 1 Turner Field Court abducted a Fairfax County man and drove him to the suspect's south Stafford home in the Leeland Station subdivision, said the Stafford County Sher-iff's Department.

The hostage escaped from the man's home and called police.

When police arrived, Flemmons abducted his wife at gunpoint and fled the scene his car, police said.

Flemmons led police on a high-speed chase that ended at the VDOT residency office around 1:30 p.m.

The office houses private contractors responsible for road upkeep in Stafford, Spotsylvania and King George coun-ties.

Just after 5 p.m., police used taser guns and bean bag projectiles against Flemmons, said Bill Kennedy, Stafford County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

Flemmons was taken to Mary Washington Hospital with minor injuries, and was set to be released Wednesday night.

Flemmons has been charged with two counts of abduction.
