Federal agents in Houston arrested a 37-year-old man wanted in Prince William County on charges of sexual assault this week.
Wilfredo De Jesus Zelaya Portillo, whose last known address was in the 6000 block of Ponhill Drive in Dale City, was charged with aggravated sexual battery, indecent liberties with a child by a custodian and rape, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.
Roughly a month ago, detectives began investigating a report made by a 16-year-old Woodbridge girl that a family member had been sexually assaulting her within the last four years, Hernandez said.
Police said Portillo fled and was hiding at a family member’s house in Houston.
On Wednesday, members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Portillo at the family member’s house, Hernandez said.
According to police, Portillo waived an extradition hearing and will be brought back to the county sometime next week.
