A Maryland man and a Dumfries-area woman were arrested Monday in connection with the theft of a credit card that led to thousands of dollars in fraudulent purchases, Prince William County police said today.
Jeffrey Leroy Stevenson Jr., 28, of 8648 Queensway Court in White Plains, Md., and Consuela Monique Hughes, 33, of 3456 Belleplain Court, were each charged with credit card theft, criminally receiving goods and grand larceny, said Sharon Richardson, police spokesman.
The victim left a wallet at the pharmacy counter of a store on Liberia Avenue in Manassas on Jan. 29, Richardson said.
Stevenson and Hughes are accused of using the credit card in side to buy nearly $3,400 in merchandise, police said.
Investigators searching the Belleplain Court residence Monday seized a 30-inch TV, several video game systems, a digital camera, a memory card, several portable video game systems and car accessories, according to police.
Both Stevenson and Hughes are being held in the Prince William-Manassas regional jail in lieu of a $15,000 unsecured bond and have April 30 court dates, police said.
