A Dale City man died in jail early Friday morning, jail officials and police said.
Police are awaiting results of a toxicology report to determine the cause of death for 57-year-old Walter J. Allen, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William County police spokeswoman.
There were no signs of foul play, she said.
Allen was arrested Thursday on a driving under the influence charge.
He was found unresponsive about 1:30 a.m., according to Prince William-Manassas regional jail Superintendent Col. Pete Meletis.
Meletis said jail personnel tried to revive Allen with CPR, then had him transferred to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:07 a.m., Meletis said in a statement.
Prince William County police are investigating the incident.
