rosull,
If you do not want your name in the local paper then do not do the crime.
The Fairfax Police post every single arrest including traffic tickets on their web site.
It is also not a victimless crime if it is in your neighborhood near and around your children.

1st offense is one offense too many. They knew that it was wrong, which is why they do it so secretive. Putting offenses out like this to the public will make borderline preverts think twice before engaging in their sick activities.

rosull: I have a feeling they do it to discourage people from committing crimes at risk of having your name, age, photo, and address posted on the Potomac News’ website. At least that’s what I’d like to think.
And most arrests that the county makes are in the public domain - that’s how TV stations (and the Potomac News) get the names, mugshots, and charges against the suspects.

Crimes committed by adults ARE public domain. No, they have not been found guilty but the idea of keeping this sort of thing secret from the public probably causes more problems than it solves. Maybe their wives might like to know if they are being put at risk by risky behavior. I am more worried about their wives’ health and safety than I am in helping these guys keep up a cover. I see nothing compassionate about helping a guy keep this sort of behavior secret from his wife. If he doesn’t want his name in the paper, maybe he shouldn’t be out in the park soliciting sex. They will get their day in court. If accused car jackers, burglars and murderers don’t get to be charged in secret, I see no reason to “protect” a pervert.

WHY in God’s name would the editors of this wonderful paper choose to ruin these men’s lives by printing their addresses and photos of them?? For all we know, this could have been a first offence. It’s difficult enough on them explaining to their families that they were arrested and booked.. but at least it would have stayed between them and the family members where it belongs. It does not belong in the public domain, it’s a victimless “crime”! I wish so much that your paper had used some judgement and Christian COMPASSION before releasing their pictures and addresses.
