Preliminary hearings for three men charged with shooting a Woodbridge Popeyes manager during a robbery attempt have been postponed until later this month.

Daniel Lipscomb, 26, of 16028 Carroll Ave. in Woodbridge, Andre Williams, 21, of 4721 Kellogg Drive in Dale City and James William Carolina, 19, of 2923 Wren Court near Dumfries are each charged with murder, attempted robbery and use or display of a firearm in commission of a felony for the Jan. 22 shooting death of Keith Truesdale, at a Popeyes restaurant on Smoketown Road in Woodbridge.

The three men were scheduled to appear in Prince William General District Court Monday for preliminary hearings. Their hearings were continued to June 18.

Truesdale, 23, was filling in as manager at the Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits at 13860 Smoketown Road in Woodbridge on Jan. 22, Prince William County police said at the time.

After closing, around 11:05 p.m., two men, one armed with a knife and the other armed with a handgun, entered the restaurant through an unlocked back door, police said.

The men demanded money, but Truesdale could not open the safe, police said. One of the men then fired one shot.

The men fled the scene in a car parked nearby driven by a third man.

Truesdale was taken to Potomac Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

A tip led police to arrest Lipscomb, Williams and Carolina for Truesdale’s death about three months after the incident.
