A Manassas Park man pleaded guilty in Prince William Circuit Court on Tuesday to raping a minor.
Jose Margarito Valdez-Herrera, 36, of the 8500 block of Sandstone Way in Manassas Park, pleaded guilty to one count of rape Tuesday. Prosecutors dropped two other counts of rape, one count of forcible sodomy and one count of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Police and prosecutors said Valdez had sex with the girl against her will nearly every day for a 10-month period between September 2006 and July 2007.
"She did not willingly participate," Manassas Park Police Detective Howard Perry testified in court Tuesday.
The girl reported the assaults to police in July 2007, Perry said.
Perry said the girl did not come forward sooner out of fear. "She said she was afraid to report it," Perry said.
Perry said Valdez initially denied having sex with the girl, then later admitted to having sex with her once.
Valdez is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 22. He faces up to life in prison.
