Prince William police have extradited Jose Abel Zelaya Ascencio from Lumpkin, Ga., and charged him with rape and burglary with intent to commit rape.

On Oct. 22, police received a 7:30 a.m. call to investigate the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl at a home in the 7500 block of Alleghany Road, northeast of Manassas Park, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William Police spokeswoman.

Police reports show that a man broke into the house and went to the girl's bedroom and tried to rape her while she slept, Hernandez said.

Police collected evidence at the crime scene and sent it to the lab for testing, Hernandez said.

On May 6, police obtained warrants for Ascencio's arrest after DNA test results came back tying the 32-year-old Ascencio to the crime scene, Hernandez said.

Ascencio, formerly of 9908 Lomond Drive, was being held in Georgia on illegal immigration charges and was scheduled for deportation to El Salvador on May 9.

He was arrested on the immigration charges shortly after the rape was reported, Hernandez said.

Ascencio was extradited to Prince William County on May 18 and is being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas regional jail pending a hearing in Juvenile Domestic Relations Court, Hernandez said.

I stand by my statistics and the fact that illegal crime statistics are unreported or misreported by most states as evidenced by trying to get statistics. Illegals number anywhere between 12 million and 30 million in this country by most peoples reports. Me personally i think it is around 20-25 million. That means 20-25 million crimes right there, not to mention the multiple offenses committed by some making additional crime numbers even higher, 11-15% of crimes according to the most recent GAO numbers. More than double or triple the General Legal Immigrant population. Sobering statistics. Phdee do you cherry pick your replies for people who don’t agree with your opinion? Chris Cummings

zcx, since no one know how many illegals are out there, your allegations about statistics hae no merit, whether you believe them true or false. Stop cherry picking for cases that fit your biases and prejudices.

Yes crimes are committed by all races and genders, everyone knows this. Statistics for certain races are not reported properly like Hispanic crime statistics lumped in with white criminal statistics in Wisconsin and non reporting of illegal crime statistics in most states. Everyone wants fairness and equality, but when you have a double standard like this how can you be fair and equal. Numbers culled from states that released statistics and GAO, FBI, and Justice Dept. figures show that illegals committ crimes at double to triple the rate of the general legal population. This crime is tragic no doubt and as a parent, I cant imagine this, but as with any U.S Citizens/Human beings,  you have good people and you have bad people, but “he” doesnt represent all illegal immigrants. ALL human beings need to be responsible for their OWN ACTIONS..its not a “race” fault or “color” fault or even a “gender” fault.

Georgia extradited him because they know he will be convicted based on DNA evidence, jailed and then deported. Case closed. Chris Cummings

Illegal alien apologists, start your engines! Give me ONE good reason why the illegal “desperately needed” to be in the country, and don’t tell me it’s because he needed a job.
