A Manassas man was sentenced Thursday to serve six years and six months in prison after a September drunken fight left a 51-year-old man dead.

Christian Molina, 30, pleaded guilty in December to voluntary manslaughter for the Sept. 2 strangling death of Ronald Dean Hollingsworth.

Molina was sentenced Thursday in Prince William Circuit Court to 10 years in prison, with three years and six months suspended.

Before Circuit Court Judge Richard B. Potter announced the sentence, Molina said he was sorry for what happened.

"I'm just very, very sorry," Molina said in Spanish, through an interpreter.

On Sept. 2, Molina, Hollingsworth and another man were drinking alcohol at a house in the 10600 block of Dumfries Road, according to court testimony in December.

At some point, the men started fighting and Molina put Hollingsworth "in a strangle hold," Lopez said Thursday.

After about three minutes, the fight was over

and Molina released Hollingsworth, Lopez said.

Molina and the other man thought that Hollingsworth had passed out from drinking too much.

After a few minutes, when they realized Hollingsworth was not breathing, Molina called 911 and began CPR, Lopez said.

When paramedics arrived, Hollingsworth was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It wasn't a case of malicious intent," Lopez said Thursday. "It was a fight between two people who were extremely intoxicated."

Molina, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, is being held on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said that Molina had been deported twice before this incident and initially gave police two false names. His true identity was discovered through fingerprinting, police said.

He should be serving the max for the illegal violations which is according to “Federal Law” 25 years plus the time for the so called “Involuntary Manslaughter” of 6 years. Then he should be deported. Chris Cummings

The problem is the federal government in this type of judgement. Prince William County tried to get ride of the illegals but the INS held them back. That is why they had to change the county code last tuesday for illegals. the federal government should get their crab together and do someting for this problem.

Another illegal here only to better himself, right.

Lied to Police, violated the law at least twice before as an illegal.

Drunk.

Now he has killed someone and he only gets 6 years and 6 months.  That is no where near enough jail time for killing someone.  This man clearly has no respect for the law or this Country.
