Mother, daughter arrested for murder plot

A mother and daughter were arrested after they allegedly hired someone to kill their husband and father, police say.

The plot was uncovered after Manassas police officers responded to a burglary in the 10000 block of Abbott Road around 1 a.m. May 23.

Upon arrival, officers found the victim and suspect fighting in the backyard.

Police say the victim, a 36-year-old male, was awakened by his 17-year-old daughter. When the victim went outside to check, the offender struck the victim several times in the head with a bat. The victim was able to hold the offender until police arrived.

The suspect is identified as Thomas Bennett, 19, of 9709 Clark Place in Manassas. He was charged with malicious wounding and is being held without bond pending a June 24 court date.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed Bennett was seeing the victim’s daughter, and she and her 35-year-old mom April Blasini (victim’s wife) arranged with Bennett to have the victim killed that night.

Police arrested Blasini and her daughter June 4. Both were charged with conspiracy to commit murder for hire and aggravated malicious wounding.

Blasini is being held without bond at the Prince William County – Manassas Adult Detention Center pending a July 22 court date.
The daughter is being held without bond in the Prince William County Juvenile Detention Center. Her court date is not set.
