BB&T robbery suspect arrested in W. Virginia

Derrick Scott Aylor, wanted in connection with the recent robbery of a BB&T bank near Dumfries, was taken into custody in Ranson, W.Va., this week, Prince William County police said.

Police received information that Aylor was in Ranson, where he has family, and notified authorities in West Vir-ginia, said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.

Aylor, 24, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice on a warrant from the Prince William County Police Department, Hernandez said.

Police said Aylor, believed to have robbed the bank on River Ridge Boulevard on the afternoon of April 21, is awaiting extradition.

Boy threatened, nearly robbed during dog walk

A 15-year-old boy was threatened with a knife and nearly robbed while walking his dog in the area of Hedges Run Drive and Critton Circle in the Lake Ridge area around 4 p.m. Thursday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Police said two unknown teenage boys, one armed with a knife, demanded money from the 15-year-old and then chased him for a short distance when he said he didn't have any.

One of the assailants was described as a thin white boy, between 15 and 16 years old, and approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, police said. He was wearing a blue and white jersey and blue jeans.

A detailed description of the other assailant was not available.

The victim was not injured, Hernandez said.

Three assailants attack man from Manassas

Three men attacked a 37-year-old from Manassas while he was getting something out of his car Wednesday night, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

The incident happened around 9:10 p.m. in the 7800 block of Keara Court near Manassas, Hernandez said.

Police said three males, one of whom was armed with a knife, approached the man.

The victim ran away and was chased for a short distance, Hernandez said. He was not injured during the incident.

A detailed description of the assailants was not available.

Four rob Manassas

man, 48, at knifepoint

A 48-year-old Manassas man was robbed at knifepoint by four unknown men in the area of Community Drive and Sharpsburg Court near Manassas around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Police said the assailants offered the victim a ride and, when they got near his residence, threatened him with a knife.

They stole the man's cash, jewelry and personal documents, Hernandez said.

A detailed description of the assailants was not available. The victim was not injured during the robbery, Hernandez said.

Gar-Field locked down as armed man reported

Gar-Field Senior High School in Woodbridge was placed under lockdown for a short time Friday afternoon after police received several reports of an armed man in the area.

As it turns out, police believe the man, who they never found, was carrying a paintball gun, said Officer Erika Her-nandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

The first call reporting a suspicious man armed with a gun came in around 1:11 p.m., Hernandez said.

That caller reported that the man was seen in the area of Elm Farm and Minnieville roads, according to police.

Police received several other calls, one of which the caller said the man was headed toward the high school, and at about 1:44 p.m. advised that the school lock down until further notice.

Officers did not find the man during a search of the area and were told during some street interviews that he was carrying a paintball gun, Hernandez said.

The lockdown was lifted around 2 p.m., police said, and students were sent home.

Aside from certain restrictions, it is not against the law to carry a paintball gun or otherwise in plain view, Hernan-dez said.

Man, 25, is charged

with false ID in M. Park

David C. Rivera, 25, no fixed address, was charged with providing a false ID to police during a traffic stop at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Lapaz Court around 8:16 p.m. Thursday, according to Manassas Park police.

According to police, Rivera gave the officer identified himself, but said he had no license or identification and did not know his address.

Because he had no license, the officer called a tow truck and while waiting for it to arrive found several documents in the name of David Rivera, according to a Manassas Park police news release.

Police said Rivera eventually admitted that was his correct name.

Rivera was also charged with driving on a suspended license and speeding, the news release states.

He was held in lieu of a $2,500 bond and has a June 12 court date.

Man attacked walking home from store

Manassas police are investigating a street robbery that occurred in the 8900 block of Ashton Avenue on Monday night.

Around 8 p.m., a 26-year-old man was walking home from a nearby convenience store when two men attacked him from behind, said Sgt. Tim Neumann, police spokesman.

Police said the victim was knocked to the ground and punched several times before the assailants fled with his cell phone.

The assailants, described only as black men who were each approximately 6 feet tall and between 18 and 25 years old, were last seen running toward Miles Place, Neumann said.

Occoquan man charged with grocery store theft

A 28-year-old Occoquan man was arrested Saturday for allegedly stealing almost $500 in merchandise from a gro-cery store in Dale City, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Victor Charlie Munoz Jr., of 202 Brawners Farm Place, was charged with grand larceny around 11 p.m. in the 5400 block of Mapledale Plaza, Hernandez said.

No bond information or court date was available.

19-year-old charged in shooting of pellet gun

Jamar Jackson Price, 19, of 7924 Manassas Drive near Manassas Park, was charged with attempted malicious wounding and discharging a firearm within 100 yards of a dwelling after a 12-year-old was shot with a pellet gun Saturday morning, police said.

Prince William police officers responded to the 7900 block of Appomattox Avenue in the Manassas Park area around 8 a.m. to investigate a firearms violation, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokes-woman, and arrested Price.

He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond. His court date was not available, Hernandez said.

Manassas area teen faces spray-paint charge

Alan David Bailey, 19, of 8818 Middleburg Court near Manassas, was charged with destruction of property and gang participation in the 11000 block of Crestwood Drive around 3:35 p.m. April 23, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Police were called to Rosemont Lewis Park outside Manassas to investigate a destruction of property complaint, Hernandez said.

Bailey is accused of spray painting a picnic table at the park, police said.

He was held without bond pending a May 20 court date.
