Prince William police have charged a 22-year-old Manassas-area man with murder in the death of his father.

Ryan James Stephenson of 6488 Davis Ford Road is being held without bond in the Prince William-Manassas re-gional jail, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Tuesday at approximately 10:40 a.m. police were called to the house Stephenson shared with his 46-year-old father, James Dale Stephenson, to investigate a domestic dispute.

The investigation revealed that they were involved in a fight. The father was transported to Prince William Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after noon.

Police have a motive in the case, Hernandez said, and the investigation so far does not indicate that the killing was         pre-mediated.

Police are not releasing any additional information, she said.

Stephenson has a scheduled court date of August 15.

it goes to show this county’s sheltered way of living.nobody is real neighbors no more.your houses are giant cubicles and people are too scared or stuck up to come outside and interact with your communities.soon you wont have a choice .because of gas prices you are most likely to be home more often.so wave back to your neighbor or recieve a more animated wave .1.

It’s a shame on my part that I didn’t know my neighbor in the 10 years I’ve lived on this street.  I had talked to his father several times, but I never really got to know him or his kids. Lord only knows what transpired on that day. And now, because of a rush of anger, one person is dead and another will spend probably most of his life in jail. It’s sad.

I grew up knowing this family, and I will tell you Ryan is not “that” kid. Rest his father’s soul, but he was not always the nicest man. All I’m saying is be respectful. . .none of us know why it happened. Pray for this family, Ryan was not an only child.
