Prince William County police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a sexual assault that occurred earlier this week.
The incident happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 18100 block of Kilmer Lane in Triangle, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.
According to police, a 15-year-old Dumfries girl was walking in the woods behind the 3600 block of Wharf Lane when an unknown man pinned her against the rear fence of a town house and began to sexual assault her.
The girl was eventually able to break free and run to a friend’s house to call police, Hernandez said.
The attacker was described as a white or Hispanic man, approximately 30 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 200 pounds, police said.
He was wearing black shoes, black jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt with red vertical stripes on the sleeves and a black New York Yankees cap.

They didn’t want to seem prejudiced to Hispanics i guess? Or is there a double standard at the Potomac News? Chris Cummings

I agree - I don’t live in that area - but I think more local coverage - and faster - is better than the fluff that gets printed.

Why is this just now getting out?? My daughter lives in this area. This sort of thing should get the same amount of press and attention as shootings, beatings, thefts, and illegal immigration stories. It makes no sense that something as important as this which happened on Monday is just hittng the paper on Thursday.
