The victim in the Tuesday shooting outside a Manassas-area grocery store was reported to be in stable condition Wednesday afternoon.
The 29-year-old Manassas man was still being treated at Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he was flown following the late morning shooting, and is expected to recover, police said.
The shooting happened around 11:56 a.m. Tuesday on the sidewalk outside Global Food at 10320 Festival Lane.
Police said the 29-year-old and the shooter had exchanged words, but were not involved in an argument prior to the shooting.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been made and detectives with the Prince William County police were still searching for witnesses who could help identify a suspect, said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.
Detectives are still trying to determine the motive, Hernandez said.
Following the incident, police described the shooter just as Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall with chipped front teeth. He was wearing blue jeans, white sneakers and an orange baseball hat.
Hernandez said an updated description was not available.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Prince William County Crime Solvers at 3-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS. Callers don’t have to give their names, just the information.
Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Why is it that some people think the way to settle things is by bringing out a gun like the “old wild west”?
This endangers all those around them. Why should the innocent have to suffer along with the idiots?
