A Gar-Field Senior High School senior was stabbed several times during a melee in the school's parking lot after the Hoops Fest fundraiser.
Prince William County Police investigators spent Friday night trying to develop a description of the suspect in the stabbing.
As hundreds of Hoops Fest spectators left the school about 9:30 p.m. a number of fights broke out, witnesses said.
A 17-year-old Gar-Field senior was stabbed in the back several times in the parking lot, said
Lt. M.C. Quattlebaum.
Police arrested a few people, but none of them was involved in the incident, he said. Police used pepper spray on the crowd and at least one other person received minor injuries.
He said there was a confrontation inside the school and police escorted a group outside.
Once outside, there were a few altercations in the parking lot, where the teen was stabbed between rows of cars.
One witness said the fights began when a girl punched a boy in the face.
