A Woodbridge man who operated a tax services company was convicted this week at U.S. District Court in Alexandria of tax fraud.

In a two-day trial the jury found Henry O. Omozee, 50, guilty of three counts of

filing false tax returns.

Omozee operated HO Tax Services and Accounting Services at 14416 Jefferson Davis Highway in Woodbridge, according to court documents.

According to a federal grand jury indictment, Omozee filed false individual tax returns for himself in the tax years 2001, 2002 and 2003.

FBI officials searched Omozee's office in 2004 and seized his tax returns and related materials.

According to an affidavit on file at U.S. District Court in Alexandria, the Internal Revenue Service conducted a detailed analysis of those tax returns and found that Omozee "understated" the amount of money he made from his tax preparation business.

According to the affidavit, the government lost a total of $84,375 in revenue as a result of Omozee under-reporting his income in those years.

Omozee faces up to three years in prison when he is sentenced on Nov. 14.
