A Manassas teen was recently indicted on charges stemming from a 2006 murder.

A grand jury indicted Freddie Deangelo Wigenton, 18, on charges of first-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and possession with intent to distribute schedule 1 or schedule 2 narcotics for a March 2006 murder.

His trial was set to begin on August 11 in Prince William Circuit Court.

Wigenton is one of two men charged in the March 15, 2006, shooting death of Rodolfo Reyes-Hernandez.

Jarrell Antone Scott, 22, of no fixed address, is charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is scheduled to appear in Prince William General District Court for a preliminary hearing on August 25.

A third man, 23-year-old Edward Louis Hogan was initially charged in the murder as well, but those charges were dropped when investigators determined he was not involved.

According to court records, police believe that Reyes-Hernandez's murder was the result of a drug deal gone bad.

The 24-year-old Manassas resident met Wigenton and Scott in the stairwell of a Manassas area apartment complex around 1 p.m. on March 15 to buy cocaine, according to court records.

There the men sold him drywall powder instead of drugs. When Reyes-Hernandez notice that the drugs were fake he grabbed one of the men's arms and asked for his money back, according to a criminal complain filed in Prince William General District Court.

A struggle then followed and Reyes-Hernandez was shot and killed, according to the criminal complaint.

Wigenton, who was 16 at the time of the murder, was certified to stand trial as an adult on the murder charges.

He was also charged in connection with a December 2006 murder in Manassas.

Wigenton and 18-year-old Deshawn D. Anderson, also of Manassas, were both charged with murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony for the Dec. 12, 2006, murder of 22-year-old Kyle L. Turner who was shot to death in a parking lot in the 8900 block of Nicol Lane in Manassas.

Both men were juveniles at the time of the murder. Prosecutors said they would be charged as adults.

The men have not yet been indicted on those charges.
