Last week I received a postcard from the Prince William County Public Schools Transportation Department that advised where my daughter’s bus stop would be for the 2008–2009 school year. 

For a scouting requirement I had to choose an issue that is important to the citizens in my community.

I just finished reading Edwin Powell’s article, “Obama Character Assassination,” about Vic Poillucci attacking Barack Obama. 

The lead story in your Aug. 30 edition was a sorry excuse for news. The entire article was nothing but a free political ad. It is not “news” to quote local Republican officials’ positive opinions of their party’s choice for vice president. 

Well, we’re all glad now that the suspense and question of who is going to be the Democratic candidate for president and vice president is finally over. 

Bad news if Republicans win the presidential election: Inexperience is a heartbeat away from being commander-in-chief.

The article regarding the Manassas National Battlefield Park and the Prince William Authority will hopefully lead to someone listening to the average visitor. This 5200 acre park, until recently, has been under Superintendent Sutton.

This is in response to the letter to the editor on August 25, regarding parking enforcement of spaces designated as reserved for persons with disabilities.

Gerry Connolly’s silence is out of character. In recent weeks, his supporters have flooded local papers with attacks on Keith Fimian. This isn’t news. But many of these letters go beyond attacking Keith on the issues. 

Democrats were in a conundrum at their convention in Denver because Hillary Clinton is not their presidential nominee.

I hope that in addition to the great Olympic sports event hosted in the capital of China, notice was taken of a massive crash course in the English language that was conducted in China. 

After reaching into my mailbox today and finding two “Fimian bashing” cards, I decided to do the research on my own. 

There goes Corey Stewart again, hogging the publicity spotlight, this time for the Home Help Program. 

It was so appropriate for Corey Stewart, Chairman of Prince William Board of County Supervisors to respond to my recent letter since this item is not required to have a public hearing nor is staff required to bring it back before board for a vote, but, as I understand it, they wish to have the board’s blessing. 

Watching TV, wearing our Obama ’08 tee-shirts, my wife and I found ourselves being won over by John McCain last week as we watched the Saddleback Church forum. McCain looked pretty good. He
was clear, crisp, decisive, engaging, and humorous. 

Have we forgotten? The seventh anniversary of 9/11 is fast approaching. 

Mr. A. Vic Poillucci is back once again, assassinating the character of Senator Barack Obama.

I came to Prince William County in the winter of 1996 and have seen many changes take place; this newspaper being one of those changes, who changed with the times. 

Remember when Barack Obama’s patriotism was questioned because he wasn’t wearing a flag pin?

Once again, Corey Stewart falsely claims ownership of a program started by another by stating the “Home Help Program” is another “First-In-The-Nation” proposal by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. 

Prince William County is in the process of updating the “Strategic Plan” to lay out the long-term vision to the year 2012.  This will provide the strategies, objectives and outcomes in the areas of “Economic Development, Education, Human Services, Public Safety and Transportation.”

I wanted to tell you a story. People are going too fast. 

Barack Obama’s roots are in Kansas, Illinois and Hawaii. He also earned a degree from Harvard Law School. 

There is a saying going around that Barack Hussein Obama is a “post turtle.”

I find it frightening when I hear the person wanting to lead our country say Americans should learn to speak Spanish. 

I must defend my presidential candidate, Mr. John McCain, from the scurrilous attacks against his good character.

As a child of the ‘60s, I remember all the talk about free love and the flower children made it look like everybody was doing it.
