My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. This boy was my son’s neighborhood friend as well as classmate. I agree that it is very dangerous for anyone to cross Hoadly Rd. b/c of the fast drivers.

I went to school with Prabhdeep at Beville middle school and knew that he was a good kid. Our school community will be very devastated to hear of his death. =<

Prabhdeep lives in my neighborhood and was very kind and generous to others. I played basketball with him and his brother. I was good friends with his sister. It’s ashame that this life was cut so short. I’m sad to see him go. He will be missed grately.

I want to comment on some of the ridiculous things being said. First off a pedestrian or person on a bike has the right of way. So for you people saying they need to learn the rules of the road, it seems to me you are the ones who are not aware. And if you are so impatient you cannot wait for that child to move then your license should be revoked. And I highly doubt you were always with your parents when you were 13. Do not judge this child or his family when he did nothing but ride his bike. Only god may judge and you are ridiculous for your narrow, small-minded argument.

I deeply feel for this family. Such a young life taken far to early. The facts of the accident are not given. But don’t forget that it was an accident… I grew up in Dale City and we were taught that you walk your bike across a street and that if a car approaches you got out of the road or as far off to the side as possible. This is either not taught or children feel self entitled to do as they please. It is horrible that as I pull into my street that I have to fully stop at some times for up to a min. to wait for children move from sitting in the middle of the street. Seriously people I am not shocked that young children are being injured and killed this way.

I think your comment is quite judgemental and you are right you do NOT know the circumstances surrounding this accident. You do not even address the speeding drivers and their carlessness, and that should be addressed. The drivers that pay no heed to the fact that they are going through a subdivision and obviously there will be children, either walking, playing or riding bikes...and yes we should pay heed to them. THAT is a RESPONSIBILITY of a driver...and speeding always kills. Maybe you should find out all the facts before automatically sending the blame on the kids..especially if you do not know about his PARTICULAR situation. Have you checked your own driving habits? Next maybe you should address your comments to the parents to teach their children better biking rules and perhaps the parents should supervise more. Children only follow examples set by the adults.

This is very sad to see one of our youth taken from us this summer in such a tragic and unnecessary manner. I would like to see Prince William Cty especially Dale City area use our tax money to put in more sidewalks not only kids to ride bikes but for adults to use for walking and biking. I am a walker and when we walk on the Blvd or on Hoadly Rd and have to walk on the gravel it can be difficult. Many times I see residents walking on the side of the road because it is easier yet unsafe. Let this be a lesson for all of us and teach our children the rules of the road and how to be safe on the streets. My sympathies go out to this family

It is a sad day when children are killed for senseless reasons. Where were his parents? That is the first question that comes to mind. But parents can’t be everywhere. All I can suggest is if parents are privy to their children being out in the environment they need to equip them with safety information. No one knows who was at fault. One thing for sure, when it is your time there is nothing that can be done to stop it. As for sunshine40, you need to have some children or patience. If you already had children that age then :"How soon we forget”. As for Dale Crappy, if you dont like it, leave. I am completely in agreeance with you as far as the frustration goes with children in the street. However, we need to be a part of the solution and not the problem. Get into one of your local brances of government and make changes there.

I have no idea who’s at fault in this terrible accident, but anyone who drives daily on Hoadly Road knows how dangerous it is. It is unbelievable the excessive speeds that are reached on Hoadly. It is a 45 mph road but the speeds at which cars drive are always exceeding 60 mph and beyond. And if you dare drive 45 mph on Hoadly, get ready to get run down from behind and get tailgated. It is really awful. Slow down people. Save a life, maybe your own.

I don’t know THESE particular circumstances but the kids around here are all over the road and expect you to stop when they cut in front of you. I’m sorry for his family. I almost hit 2 kids yesterday afternoon in Dale Crappy riding down the middle of the road on bikes and a little pocket rocket. They weren’t older than 10. Teach them the rules of the road and to keep out of the streets!!
