Advantage holding canned food drive
After the holidays are over, many food banks lack supplies on their shelves, yet people continue to come in. With the economy fluctuating, many people can't find jobs or are being laid-off and need help.
Advantage Physical therapy & Rehabilitation is sponsoring a canned food drive throughout January to benefit SERVE Inc.
SERVE is a non-profit community organization that provides basic needs for homeless and underprivileged indi-viduals and families.
Non-perishable goods can be drooped off at the company at 7560 Gardner Park Drive, Gainesville.
Chamber to host 'hot topics' program
The Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Hot Topics Lunch and Learn program Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. at the chamber office, 4320 Ridgewood Center Drive, Woodbridge.
The topic will be "Building Organizational Resilience: Position Your Company for Success in Tough Times." Alma Hughes and Lee Hecht Harrison will speak at the event.
Other events for the month include a charette on Jan. 14 at 3 p. m. at Caton's Crossing Center;, a ribbon cutting Jan. 15 at noon at Kline Chiropractic & Wellness; Lunch Bunch on Jan. 16 at noon at Tiziano Italian Restau-rant; monthly luncheon "State of the County" on Jan. 21 at Old Hickory Golf Club; Business Before Hours on Jan. 22 at 8 a.m. at Prince William Commons; Chairman's Dinner on Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at City Palace; Speed Networking on Jan. 29 at 3 p. m. at the food court at Manassas Mall.
Reserve space for a Bluebird Tour trip
The Bluebird Tour Program, operated by the Prince William Area Agency on Aging has space available on several upcoming trips.
They include Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Richmond, on Jan. 12; Woodloch, Hawley, Pa. on Jan. 19-23; Balti-more Aquarium on Jan. 15; American History Museum, Washington, on Jan. 27; Shirley Plantation, Charles City, on Jan. 30; Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, Lancaster, on Feb. 26; Ford's Theatre, Washington, on Feb. 28; Asheville, Cherokee and Pigeon Forge on April 19-24; and Hudson River Valley tour, New York, on June 1-5.
Ty Gardner named new ReStore team member
Ty Gardner is the new ReStore team member for Habitat for Humanity in Manassas, replacing Royce Soberano, who is going back to school after being in charge of the lower level of the store.
Gardner grew up in Florida and received his bachelor's in education from the University of Alabama in Tus-caloosa. He is currently working on a degree in athletic training at George Mason University.
