Residents in the area can celebrate the Fourth of July with one of the largest fireworks displays in Northern Virginia on July 4.
One of the best places to watch the display that will begin at 9:15 p.m. is on the Manassas Museum lawn. Those coming should bring their lawn chairs and blankets. Rain day for the fireworks is July 5.
Earlier in the day, Old Town Manassas is once again hosting an all-American party around the train depot and the Manassas Museum, sponsored by the City of Manassas and produced by Historic Manassas Inc.
The festivities begin at 4 p.m. with live music by Point Blank, performing a variety of classic, contemporary and modern rock and country music. Rides for the kids include the Acrospring, giant Dragon Slide and the Enchanted Fairies moon bounce. There will be funnel cakes and other favorite carnival foods, face painting and a red white and blue hayride.
Amateur bakers will once again have the opportunity to enter their best in the Apple Pie Baking Contest at the Harris Pavilion. Information and entry forms are available at the Visitor’s Center, and on line at http://www.visitmanassas.org. The entry deadline is July 3 and the first place winner will receive $100.
