Chess tourney to take place at Dumfries school

The next Scholastic Chess Tournament takes place at Mary Williams Elementary School, 3100 Panther Drive (formerly Four Year Trail) in Dumfries on Saturday, Dec.13 and is open to any elementary, middle or high school student.
Register via e-mail with name, grades and school to no later than 6 p.m. Dec. 12. Registered players should arrive at the school by 8:45 a.m. Registration may also be done at the school on Dec. 13 between 8 and 8:30 a.m. Registration after 8:30 a.m. will cause the player to miss the first round which begins at 9:30 a.m.
The tournament will be held in three sections: Primary (K-3), Elementary (4-5), Middle School (6-8) and High School (9-12). Top individuals and top teams in each section will receive trophies. Other players will receive medals or certificates.
