Westminster to host real estate seminar

Westminster at Lake Ridge a Continuing Care Retirement Community will host a luncheon and informational semi-nar at the American Tap Room Restaurant in the Virginia Gateway Center in Gainesville on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

An expert panel of local Real Estate and mortgage industry professionals will discuss the current Real Estate market, how to make a move to a retirement lifestyle, programs available to help you with your move and how to find a financial institution or Real Estate agent to work with you. Staff and residents will be on hand to answer your ques-tions about the lifestyle and amenities that await at Westminster at Lake Ridge.

Cougar Upper Elementary School gets new name

The Manassas Park City School Board approved the naming of its newest school during Monday night'

meeting.

The new school will be called Manassas Park Elementary School. Because it's being constructed on the Cougar Elementary School campus, it had been referred to as Cougar Upper Elementary School for purposes of identifying it during the construction phase.

However, the administrative staff recommended that the new school facility be named Manassas Park Elementary School since the present school with that name will be torn down when the School Board turns it over to the city, said Manassas Park School spokesperson Lois Steele.

The new facility will house third through fifth grades, while a second building on campus attached to the current building will house kindergarten through second grade. Cougar Elementary School will house the pre-kindergarten program.

The Manassas Park & Recreation Department will be using part of the current Manassas Park Elementary School grounds for a new facility at Costello Park.
