Caring for Costis walk/run set for May 31
The Caring for Costis 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk will be held May 31 at Stonewall Jackson High School.

The 5K will start at 8:30 a.m., the 1-mile race at 10 a.m. with on-site registration available an hour before each race. The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages.

The 5K registration fee is $25 (includes T-shirt) and the 1-mile fee is $15 (includes T-shirt). The proceeds for the race will go to the family of Matthew Costis, whose father Tom teaches at the high school.  Matthew, 8, was diagnosed with brain cancer in February.

Tax deductible cash or check donations will also be gratefully accepted on behalf of the Costis family. Please make checks payable to SJHS-Matthew Costis Fund.

Events include food provided by Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins, raffle drawings, music and a moon bounce.

Aquia Lions Club plans annual yard sale
The Aquia Harbour Evening Lions Club will host its annual community yard sale for charity June 7 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine, at Lions Park, Aquia Harbour in Stafford.

There are three ways to participate in this great charity event: You can reserve a spot to sell your wares for $15; you can donate items to be sold at the Lions table; or you can attend the community yard sale and purchase items from the Lions Table.

Proceeds fund Lions vision, hearing programs

Participants are reminded to bring their own tables, seating, bug spray and sunscreen and be ready to have some fun.

Help Urbanna Swim Club celebrate 40th anniversary
The Urbanna Swim Club on Urbanna Road in Manassas is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Members and former members are invited to get reacquainted at a celebration May 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. (rain date is May 26).
Former members — You have been a part of Urbanna and we welcome you to visit us for this celebration.

Cake, ice cream and beverages will be served.
