County League of Women Voters finds fertile ground

Residents at Regency, a 55-and-older community in the Haymarket area, are getting out the vote. Many are involved with the League of Women Voters Prince William Area.
In its second year, the league serves Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park by registering voters, hosting educational programs and discussions, and disseminating informa-tion.
Regency resident Shirley White had been a member of the League of Women Voters for 10 years before helping start a Prince William chapter.
"It did not take long to gather more members. However, these members wanted to study and discuss governmental and school situations of [Prince William County], not Fairfax County," White said.
Since its inception, the Prince William league has published its own, "What's On the Ballot," and newsletters. League members also hosted a candidates' televised de-bate in Dumfries.
The membership of the league includes between three or four Regency residents, eight Haymar-ket residents and four or five residents of the Bristow and Gainesville areas.
"My, time flies when having fun and engrossed in satisfying endeavors," White said.
The league has several suggestions for voting this year:
• Before going to the polls, find your voting precinct. If you don't know your precinct, con-tact your Registrar's Office. Prince William County: 703-792-6470; City of Manassas: 703-257-8230; City of Manassas Park: 703-335-8806.
• To reduce nervousness (and save time), decide who to vote for before you show up at the polls.
• Take a picture identification such as a driver's license, government photo ID, or your voter registration card from the Virginia office of Registration-and take patience.
• Don't wear campaign shirts, buttons or stickers to the polls. You will not be allowed in to vote if you do.
• Allow plenty of time for standing in line.

Apparently, the Potomac News has not done their research on who they have reporting for them. A visit to some of the blogs sites would be enlightening for them.
Most employers research potential employees. Apparently, the Potomac News has not done their due diligence in this case.

As a member of the league of Women Voters, your attempt to promote your organization is evident. Your first couple of sentences in your article, “Residents at Regency, a 55-and-older community in the Haymarket area, are getting out the vote. Many are involved with the League of Women Voters Prince William Area.“
What is “many” in your mind. The four members you state later in your article as members from the Regency!
As a newspaper writer, you have to remain impartial in your articles.
