History lives this weekend at Merchant Park

A Civil War Living History Event will be held this weekend at Merchant Park in Dumfries.
The family-friendly and educational event will allow visitors to explore Civil War camp life, including an authentic medical tent and medical equipment, infantry drills and marching as well as musket firing demonstrations and camp cooking.
Representatives from the 28th Virginia Infantry and the 17th Virginia Infantry Regiments will be on hand to share their experience and knowledge about the Civil War, infantry techniques and life and camp conditions.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. It is sponsored by Historic Dumfries, Virginia, Inc. and is free and open to the public.
Merchant Park is at the corner of Duke and Cameron streets in Dumfries.
