The Alpha Iota Zeta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recently conducted its fall induction at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

A reception for the new members and their families followed the ceremony.

President Edrise Babee, Vice President Idris Hooper, Treasurer Chris Hilldrup and Secretary Nikhita Karki conducted the ceremony, assisted by faculty advisors Ed Anderson and Susan Givens and Dean of Students Victor Bibbins Sr.

Guest speaker Jill MacDiarmid told the members they could use the Kappa hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship as a springboard for their future academic and career success.

Sharing a quote from Jimmy Dean that says "I can't change the direction of the wind but I can adjust my sail to always reach my destination," MacDiarmid reminded the student they would always face challenges and encouraged them to use Dean's philosophy to adapt to the challenges they encounter.

A NOVA graduate and Kappa member, MacDiarmid is the testing coordinator for the Manassas Campus learning la
