WASHINGTON (AP) _ A coalition of immigrant rights’ groups and social justice organizations are marching today in Washington to call for immigration reform.

The groups are demanding that Prince William County, in northern Virginia, rescind its anti-illegal immigration measure. They also want raids and deportations to end, and are calling for worker centers to be established in Washington, Maryland and Virginia.

Activists also plan to deliver a letter to the Republican and Democratic national committees, asking the presidential candidates to enact immigration reform.

The events in Washington are part of rallies and marches planned in cities across the nation.

If illegals weren’t here then they wouldn’t be sapping our social services programs, border and employer enforcement by the authorities Federal, State, and Local is the only cure. States with similar Resolutions have been doing just fine, Arizona, Georgia as well as soon to be many more. Tax increases in a faltering economy are not the solution right now. The ultimate solution would be spending cuts especially on social programs that don’t work or in many cases are abused by a lot of states, i.e benefits to illegals, protection of illegals in “Sanctuary cities” etc. etc. More emphasis on job work programs is a better solution than social welfare. It worked in the 90’s and a good deal of the 2000’s. It can work now. Tax increases are never the correct solution, that is unless you are a Socialist or a Communist. Chris Cummings

Chris, all this goes back to the story I told months ago. The Coach and the QB have time for one play to win the game. The Coach wants to kick a field goal, the QB, a pass play. Both are on the same side and have the same goal, but offer two different means of scoring a victory. Our views are not so different but HOW we feel victory can be achieved IS the difference. Bush wants to spur the economy with tax cuts, the Dems want to balance the budget with tax increases. Two different views of achieving a similar goal, that’s all. I feel small steps are needed, others feel it can be done with one giant leap.
History, not us bickering, will tell which path was correct.

Chris, I don’t push for amnesty, but I do support and offer suggestions on stop-gap measures until other more permanent procedures can be implemented.
If you break down the vast number of problems we face with not knowing who is here then my first vote is for security. If you can clear all 30,000 out of PWC quickly, then fine. How soon can you clear 12 million out of the USA with the border still open and more pouring in? In the meantime, SOMETHING needs to be done to have the illegals fund the social services programs and such and that means is through payroll taxes. We can either hold our breath until we turn blue or take short-term action to make SOME progress. If you’re happy with the progress of the Resolution, then again I say fine. I just don’t think it will hold long-term.

Wow not even 200 hundred people showed up at this so called rally for equality. Or maybe we should say a rally for a double standard for illegal aliens. Yes Ray the rules and laws do work with immigrants as long as they are willing to follow them from the start in said of circumventing them and hoping for amnesty. Which has been a big fat failure and only encourages more illegal immigration as well as greater tax burdens on the legal immigrants of this once proud nation. Chris Cummings

I have no problem with immigrants, legal or not, and I agree with Equality that the Resolution will not work because it is fiscally unworkable, but I think those that want to support illegal immigrants should spend their time and effort teaching illegals how to get on the proper path to legal documentation. The laws and rules are workable if someone is willing to spend the time, effort and yes, financial investment necessary to navigate the system.

Too bad they didn’t work this hard in their own countries to improve it. Then maybe we would be immigrating there. Keep up the good work Prince William - still a long way to go. Let us know what we need to help.

That’s rich!  Those condoning breaking the law demanding those of us who are protecting our rights as United States citizens to rescind the measures adopted to protect ourselves, our families and our communities.  Illegal aliens entered our country “illegally” and have absolutely no right being here.  The people in the groups supporting them are also breaking the law.  What a joke that the one group has the word ‘justice’ in its name.  Immigration is a great thing - done correctly and legally.  Illegal aliens from whatever country whether you’ve overstayed your welcome or crossed the border illegally need to go.  When you are serious about wanting to become a United States citizen return legally.  Those who say they need to be here to work, how much did you pay to come here?  If you could come up with the big bucks needed to get you into the country illegally then you probably did not need to come here at all.

If they don’t like PWC and its policies then they should LEAVE and save us the trouble of having to deport them. Instead of overthrowing our government, why don’t they fix THEIR OWN country?

HEY ALANNA ALMEDA!! Stick THIS in your blog and smoke it!

I really think that America is the only country that allows a bunch of illegal people to actually protest. It is amazing to me. I guess it’s the country we love. Now as far as the problem I hope that they continue to deport to raid and to enforce the LAW! I have said and will continue to say that LEGAL IMMIGRANTS are welcome, But ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are not bottom line.

This is purely a ignorant display of a group of people advocating to break our laws.  “Groups demanding PWC recind it’s anti-ILLEGAL immigration measure”.  Unbelieveable.  I hope there are ICE agents there to round up the illegals in the crowd.  Just come here legally like most immigrants and there is no problem.  YOU, the illegals, are the ones causing all of the ill feelings toward all immigrants.  We are not racist or hate mongers. There are jobs and a better way of life waiting for LEGAL immigrants are all are welcome.  Just follow our laws and pay your fair share.  That’s all us legal citizens have ever asked.  We will not stand for this anymore.

Fed up!
