Taking a bite out of crime…

The Wellington community will hold the event on Saturday at 6 p.m. Manassas City Police and Prince William County law enforcement officers will join Wellington Neighborhood Watch members, residents, owners and friends at the Wellington Community Center.

Wildwood Condominiums will be celebrating the Night Out on Saturday at 7 p.m. Wildwood Neighborhood Watch members and residents will walk through the neighborhood as one to show they are taking back the community.

The Georgetown South community will observe Night Out on Aug. 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Georgetown South Community Center. Neighborhood Watch organizers plan a cookout with a DJ, clowns and children's activities and a karate demonstration.

The Weems Neighborhood Watch Area will celebrate on Aug. 5, starting at 6:30 p.m. They will meet at Byrd Park's Grant Avenue entrance near the intersection of Jackson Avenue. Walks will be conducted through the neighborhood. Free watermelon and lemonade will be available, but money should be brought for treats from a local ice cream truck.

Manassas Officer Scott Stallard will represent city police with a display at the National Night Out at the National Mall on Aug. 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. He'll join representatives from other Washington area police departments, including Manassas Park and Prince William County.

The Gray Ghost Theatre will close out its summer production of "Gray Ghost Voices" this weekend at the Mary Louise Amphitheater on the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

… it's one of summer's best family entertainment programs.
