Occoquan’s Mayor Ernie Porta said tonight will be the first lighting of the Va. 123 bridge lights.
By sunset the historic style street lamps on the northwest side of the bridge should illuminate the new span, Porta said on Friday.
“At least everybody I’ve talked to is please with the style of the lights they have that sort of historic look to them,” he said.
The expanded, six-lane bridge opened last fall.
At 7:30 p.m., town, county and state officials are expected to flip the switch on the new lights.
