Mikuel T. Gaskins, 53, has been charged with murder in the killing of his 44-year-old girlfriend, Manassas City police said Wednesday morning

Gaskins was arraigned at Inova Fairfax Hospital on Tuesday and will remain at the hospital un-til he is discharged, said police spokesman Sgt. Tim Neumann.

At that time, he will be transported to the Prince William-Manassas regional jail and held there pending a court date that has not yet been set, police said.

Police responded to the townhouse the two shared at 9613 Aspen Place in Georgetown South early Thursday afternoon and found Chantie Brooks, 44, dead from apparent stab wounds.

Gaskins was found alive, also suffering from apparent knife wounds.

Preliminary findings indicate that Gaskins stabbed Brooks before turning the knife on himself, police said.

Police are still investigating the motive, Neumann said.
