A 30-year-old man faces charges in the stabbing of his estranged wife and a male friend outside her Woodbridge home late Tuesday night.
Hours after the stabbing, members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Ricardo Flores at a residence in the 1400 block of Horner Road in Woodbridge, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.
Flores was charged with two counts of malicious wounding and is being held without bond pending two separate court hearings—one scheduled July 16 for the man's stabbing and the other on July 17 in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court for the other charge, Hernandez said.
According to police, the 25-year-old woman and a 36-year-old Stafford man were stabbed outside her residence at the corner of Greenacre Drive and Azalea Lane at about 11:58 p.m.
The woman was stabbed first, police said, and the friend was attacked when he tried to help her.
The victims, whose names were not released, were flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and were in critical condition as of Wednesday evening, Hernandez said.
Robert Williams, 16, a neighbor of the woman, said he looked out the window of his bedroom sometime during the night to see dozens of police officers along with several emergency vehicles on the roadway, a section of which was closed off to traffic for part of the night.
His sister, 14-year-old Tonya Williams, said the woman moved in just about two months ago and that there hadn't been any problems at the residence.
Officers were at the scene gathering evidence and canvassing the area until close to 8:30 a.m., Hernandez said.
During the investigation, Officer W.F. VanAntwerp and his dog, Hawkeye, located the knife police say was used in the attack, Hernandez said.
