The annual Manassas Wine and Jazz Festival gets bigger each year.
The initial festival started out with 10 participating Virginia wineries; last year, there were 11. This year, 14 will appear at the Loy E. Harris Pavilion.
The sponsors of the event, Historic Manassas Inc., reports that tickets are now on sale.
Taster tickets at the festival gate will be $20, but early birds can save $5 by buying them in advance at the visitors center at the train depot in Old Town for $15. Tickets can also be purchased in advance until June 12 on the HMI Web site http://www.visitmanassas.org, to be picked up from the will call table at the festival gates. Jazz artists at this year's festival include the return of Marcus Johnson , as well as the Keith Wesby Group, and L'Tanya Mari.
Visitors can taste, purchase and discuss wines with vintners throughout the day. Visitors will also be able to find many merchants that offer wine-related merchandise, various local artists and upscale food concessions.
The ticket price includes an official festival tasting wine glass and a Wegmans tote bag.
Participating wineries include Horton Winery, First Colony Winery, Pearmund Cellars, White Fences Vineyard & Winery, The Winery at La Grange, Willowcroft Farm Vineyards, Peaks of Otter Winery & Orchards. Kluge Estates, Fox Meadow Winery, Lost Creek Winery, Vino Curioso, Potomac Point Winery, Del Fosse Vineyards & Winery and Loudoun Valley Vineyards. Those attending should bring a lawn chair or blanket to relax on the Pavilion lawn.
The festival is traditionally conducted on Father's Day, which is June 15 this year. For more festival and ticket information, call 703-361-6599 or visit http://www.visitmanassas.org.
Coolers and picnic baskets are not permitted inside the festival gates.
