A massive expansion is underway at Fort Belvoir that will make the post one of the largest Army installations in the country.
Over the next few years, Fort Belvoir is expected to undergo more than $4 billion worth of construction that will create more office space than exists at the Pentagon.
Projects include a 120-bed hospital, a wounded warriors transition center and the headquarters for several military and intelligence agencies.
The expansion is expected to nearly double Fort Belvoir’s population.
Fairfax County has estimated the need for $1.3 billion in road improvements to accommodate the base’s growth. But supervisor Gerald Hyland says so far, the money isn’t there.

Federal Government, are you going to help Virginia and Fairfax Co pay for the road improvments to support Ft. Belvoir? I hope so.
