WOODBRIDGE (AP) Authorities have recovered the bodies of two men from Woodbridge who had been missing since they left Sunday for a Potomac River canoe trip.
Thirty-five-year-old Juan Lopez and 33-year-old Jose Alexander left from Wayside Park about 2:15 p.m. Sunday to go fishing.
Authorities say they told family members they would be gone for a couple of hours. When they didn’t show up by about 6:30 p.m., family members called 911.
Sgt. Ken Turner, a spokesman for the Maryland Natural Resources Police, says a commercial crabber found Alexander’s body a mile north of the Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge on Monday morning. Rescuers found Lopez’s body several hours later about 500 yards north of that.
The cause of their deaths remains under investigation.
