Woodbridge home invasion investigated

Prince William County police are investigating a home invasion that occurred in the 1400 block of Idaho Street in Woodbridge late Tuesday night.

The incident happened sometime between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m., said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.

A group of six to nine armed males knocked on the front door, then forced their way in and began tying up the six people who were inisde the house.

Each of the assailants had his face covered with either a ski mask or a bandanna and each was armed with a handgun, Hernandez said.

After tying up the six people at the house, the robbers ransacked the house and stole cash and a cell phone, Hernandez said.

Two men, one 19 and the other 26, were each struck on the head during the incident, Hernandez said.

The 26-year-old was taken to the hospital and required stitches for the cut he sustained, she said.

A detailed description of the assailants was not available. The investigation continues, police said.

Convenience store in Woodbridge robbed

A convenience store in Woodbridge was held up late Tuesday night, Prince William police said.

The incident happened around 11:14 p.m. in the 1700 block of Featherstone Road, said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.

The store clerk reported that a man armed with a knife walked into the store and demanded money, Hernandez said.

Police said the robber then took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

The robber was described as a black man, between 30 and 35 years old, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, a ski mask, a long-sleeved gray shirt, a pair of green shorts and light brown work boots.

The clerk was not injured, police said.
