No further information was released.

Three people injured in two separate accidents

Three people were injured, and two were flown out, in two separate accidents Tuesday, Prince William County police reported.

The first collision occurred around 3 p.m. when a 2006 Dodge Caravan allegedly ran a red light on southbound U.S. 29 at Old Carolina Road in the Gainesville area, colliding with a 2006 Ford Expedition, said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.

The driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old Gainesville man, was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital for head trauma, Hernandez said.

The driver of the van, Boyd G. Harris Jr., 76, of 14367 Clearwater Court in Gainesville, was transported to a local hospital and was treated for minor injuries, Hernandez said.

Police charged him with reckless driving. He was released on a summons and has a scheduled court date of Sept. 10.

Both drivers have been released from the hospital, Hernandez said.

The second crash happened around 6:53 p.m. in the area of Va. 234 near Nottingham Drive, Hernandez said.

A 41-year-old woman fell off a 1987 Harley Davidson that she was riding as a rear passenger, police said. The reason she fell is unknown.

The woman was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital with severe road rash, Hernandez said.

No one has been charged, police said.

A woman reported she was in her bedroom when a burglar kicked in her bedroom door late Monday morning, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

The incident occurred in the 13400 block of Christopher Place in Woodbridge around 11:45 a.m., Hernandez said.

The burglar fled when he saw the woman in her room, police said.

A second burglar was also seen running from the scene, Hernandez said.

The basement and other parts of the house were rummaged through, but nothing was stolen and no one was injured, Hernandez said.
