‘Arts After Dark’ festival is scheduled for Saturday
The Center for the Fine and Performing Arts specialty program at Woodbridge Senior High School will present the fifth annual “Arts After Dark” festival on Saturday at 7 p.m. in the lower lobby and auditorium of the school.

The evening will include performances and presentations from students in the creative writing, dance, instrumental and vocal music, music technology, theater, film productions and visual arts concentrations.

Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for students.

Prints of student art work will be for sale all during the event.

Help raise funds Saturday for Frances Stanley
The friends of Frances Stanley are having a fundraiser for her on Saturday from 7 p.m. to closing at Brittany’s Restaurant and Sports Bar, 12449 Dillingham Square, Lake Ridge.

Frances, 5, has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and the family needs help with hospital, medicine and transportation bills.

ACTS/Turning Points hosts women’s conference
Action in the Community Through Service/Turning Points is putting on a conference called “Women Meeting Challenges — Making Change” on Saturday at Gar-Field Senior High School. 
There will be speakers from other states and vendors from as far south as Richmond.

The cost is $15 to attend. Check the agenda and attend those programs that appeal to you or stay all day.  One of the speakers shared her story on Oprah.

20 students to receive scholarships at brunch
The New Life Community Development Corporation is honoring leaders of tomorrow at its sixth annual Scholarship Brunch on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at old Hickory Golf Club, 11921 Chanceford Drive, Woodbridge.

Twenty graduating high school students from Prince William and counties across Virginia exhibiting exceptional academic achievement, community involvement and leadership will be awarded scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000.

The keynote speaker will be BB&T Northern Virginia Battlefield Region President Donta’ Wilson.

Red Cross baby sitting class to be held at Chinn
Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center is hosting an American Red Cross Baby Sitting class for youth ages 11 to 15. The class will help to develop skills in five critical areas: leadership, safety, safe play, basic care, first aid and professionalism. 

The eight-hour class will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 or July 19.  Participants only need to attend one class. 

The cost is $60 for one eight-hour class. Participants do not have to be a pass plan holder of Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center to attend the class.  Pre-registration is required at least three days in advance.

Bull Run Mountain civic group to host flea market
Bull Run Mountain Civic Association is sponsoring a flea market Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, at the clubhouse, 1811 Ridge Road.

Proceeds from table rental will go toward improvement of the basketball court and playground area.
