MANASSAS, Va. (AP) _ Prince William County supervisor Frank Principi says he will propose that the county repeal a policy that directs police to check the citizenship or immigration status of criminal suspects they believe might be in the country unlawfully.
Principi is the first member of the board of supervisors to challenge the enforcement element of the county’s recent crackdown on illegal immigration. The crackdown was approved in October, when Principi was not on the board. The policy denies services to illegal immigrants.
Since the policy took effect in March, the county jail has become more crowded and police have asked for video cameras in patrol cars to protect officers from allegations of racial profiling.
Supervisors voted Tuesday to cut more than $3 million from the next budget that was to be allotted for the cameras and enforcement of the policy.

WHY DO SOME FEEL OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE SERVICES AND RIGHTS TO INDIVDUALS WHO ARE HERE ILLEGALY. WE SHOW, AS A NATION, THAT WE CANT TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN, BUT WE HAVE THESE BLEEDING HEARTS WHO WANT NOT ONLY TO SHELTER LAW BREAKERS THAT ARE IN OUR COUNTRY ILLEGALY, BUT AT THE SAME TIME CAUSE US THAT HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE HERE, WHO ABIDE BY THE LAW,PAY OUR TAXES AND STRIVE TO MAKE ENDS MEET ,HAVE TO FIGHT TO OBTAIN HELP FROM THESE SAME SERVICES THAT ARE OVER TAXED. TO STOP THIS IMMIGRATION WOULD NOT ONLY WRONG, BUT A SLAP IN THE FACE TO THE SAME VOTERS WHO NOT ONLY PUT YOU IN OFFICE, BUT DEPEND ON YOU TO SPEAK FOR THEM. MAYBE NEXT TIME MR. PRINCIPI SHOULD ASK FOR THEIR SUPPORT.

vires02, i don’t think they said that possesing a drivers license gives them the right to vote, it “allows” them to vote although doing so would be yet another fraudulent crime. This is why the apologists in some areas push to allow giving illegals drivers licenses. They would get the votes.
Now, as to the article. Principi wants to stop this: “check the citizenship or immigration status of criminal suspects they believe might be in the country unlawfully” Not the average Joe, but criminal suspects. As stated in the article, Principi wants to protect “criminal suspects”. That is just a disgrace for any elected official no matter what your position is on immigration overall.

Sorry MDH daily news and recent local illegal alien raids are more than enough proof for me as well as it is a common occurrence that being illegal is a crime generally compounded by multiple crimes when an illegal alien drives or works without proper and legal documentation. How is reality treating you MDH? Chris Cummings

Do you guys even know what you are talking about? Just because you get a driver’s license does not give you the right to vote. It is true, that before 9/11 driver’s licenses were given without having to proof their legal status, but does not mean that were able to vote. Not even legal permanent residents are allowed to vote. The only ones that can vote are US citizens, and that needs to be proved.
You guys shouldn’t just talk without checking your resources first. First find out how things really are, and then post your comments

MDH3 - you are incorrect - here’s the proof from the IRS website:
ITIN
An ITIN, or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, is a tax processing number only available for certain nonresident and resident aliens, their spouses, and dependents who cannot get a Social Security Number (SSN). It is a 9-digit number, beginning with the number “9”, formatted like an SSN (NNN-NN-NNNN).
To obtain an ITIN, you must complete IRS Form W-7, IRS Application for Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (PDF) . The Form W-7 requires documentation substantiating foreign/alien status and true identity for each individual. You may either mail the documentation, along with the Form W-7, to the address shown in the Form W-7 Instructions, present it at IRS walk-in offices, or process your application through an Acceptance Agent authorized by the IRS. Form W-7(SP), Solicitud de Número de Identificación Personal del Contribuyente del Servicio de Impuestos Internos (PDF) is available for use by Spanish speakers.
Acceptance Agents are entities (colleges, financial institutions, accounting firms, etc.) who are authorized by the IRS to assist applicants in obtaining ITINs. They review the applicant’s documentation and forward the completed Form W-7 to IRS for processing.
Illegal aliens obtain loans using their Individual Taxpayer Identification Number from financial institutions.

Mr. Bill “go to any real estate website and you can find the data. simple enough for you?”
and Chris Cummings “Need any more examples just Google, almost daily occurences”
Ah yes, the rhetorical device of intellectual laziness and cowardice. “Go look it up yourself.” You are the ones making the allegations. The burden of proof rests on you if you want to convince someone of the rectitude of your position. But in the interests of public service and education, I went ahead and pulled up the latest crime report from PWC Police.
It says:
During 2007, the overall crime rate decreased in Prince William County to 19.8 crimes per 1,000 residents. This shows a consistent downward trend from 2003, when the crime rate was 24.3. The overall crime rate is comprised of all Index Crimes which includes murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft. The crime rate is a percentage of the total number of crimes per population.
Further:
The total number of crimes in Prince William County decreased from 8,026 in 2006, to 7,565 in 2007. The greatest reduction occurred in the number of robberies and burglaries.
For the full report, go to www.pwcgov.org and click search. In the Search box, type ‘crime rate’. The first two items from the search are the crime rate reports for 2006 and 2007.
“mdh3 being here illegally is a crime, therefore crime is high in woodbridge and neabsco. when someone lies to get a loan that is also a crime. when someone here illegally lies to get a loan that doubles it. when someone here illegally fails to pay their mortgage it leads to foreclosure.”
Uncorroborated statements. My dear man, I’ll number the arguments so you can follow.
1. The County has never been able to gain hard data on the number of illegals in Prince William. One cannot calculate a crime rate without hard data. It’s mathematically impossible.
2. The crime rate published by PWC does not include violations of immigration law.
3. Where is your data to suggest people in Neabsco and Woodbridge have lied on their loan applications? Where is your data to support your contention that illegals lie on loan applications?
4. Are you alleging that only illegals fail to pay their mortgages?
“p.s. the same lies that get you that house also get you that truck you’re driving.”
Excuse me? Of what, exactly, are you accusing me?
“Mdh3 your arguments might be more convincing and realistic if fraudulent documents and stolen identities weren’t everyday county occurrences. See CMC Concrete in Manassas and Landsdowne Resort in Loudoun County i believe as prime recent examples. So in order for an illegal to get an illegal mortgage is to provide a TIN number? Your arguments and support for illegals are enough to hide a thousand illegals in a tractor trailer from south of the border via a coyote or illegal driver, hell looks like you could drive the Space Shuttle through your arguments.”
I never alleged they weren’t. What I dispute is that one can receive a driver’s license or a mortgage without sufficient documentation. Second, point to one word which I wrote in support of illegals. Third, your profanity and sarcasm only detract from your arguments.
Class dismissed.

Illegals driving without driver’s licenses is O.K.? According to Principi it is. This is why Principi needs to be stopped in his tracks, before another PW resident is victimized by these lawbreakers!
