"We had a typical commute for a rainy Monday morning—nothing out of the ordinary—everything was as it would be on a typical Monday," said said Christine Rodrigo, public relations specialist for the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission.
Stricter security on Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission buses was the result of a threatening Sat-urday night phone call to the Prince William County police, Rodrigo stated in a recent PRTC press release.
Prince William County police told PRTC that they had received a rambling message that made incoherent and non-specific threats to "the president" and PRTC buses with additional references to "Monday," the release stated.
The commission treated the threat as serious and cooperated with local law enforcement.
PRTC posted continuous armed security present at its terminal Monday and advised its front line workers to be more vigilant than usual about security safeguards which include pre-trip inspections of all of its buses before they are taken from the PRTC secured facility
"Our operators are always vigilant in looking out for anything out of the ordinary and I'm sure that that will continue," Rodrigo said.
Nothing untoward happened Monday, Rodrigo said.
