The Virginia Department of Transportation is working on roads in the western end of Prince William County beginning today and continuing through Friday, weather permitting.
In eastern Prince William, work has begun to add a lane on Interstate 95, north and south, in Prince William and Fairfax counties. Closures for this project estimated, to be completed in 2011, include lanes from Va. 123 (Exit 160) near Occoquan to Route 7100 (Exit 166) near Springfield. Closures will occur during daytime hours, Monday to Friday, and nighttime hours, Monday to Thursday, weather permitting. There will be no closures during rush hours. The left southbound lane, from Fairfax County Parkway (Exit 166) near Newington to Lorton (Exit 163) is closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 22.
The following roads in Gainesville, Haymarket and Nokesville are affected for the remainder of this week:
• U.S. 29 (Lee Highway), north and south, between Virginia Oaks Drive and Carver Road, just south of Gainesville. A single lane will be closed in the northbound direction from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and in the southbound direction from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• There will be a single lane closed for work on Va. 55, (John Marshall Highway), north and south, between Old Carolina Road and U.S. 15 in Haymarket from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• A single lane will be closed between U.S. 15 and Antioch Road near Haymarket from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
• A single lane on U.S. 15 (James Madison Highway), north and south, between Interstate 66 in Haymarket and Old Carolina Road, about one mile north of Haymarket between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
• Va. 28 (Nokesville Road), north and south, between Fitzwater Drive (Route 652) in Nokesville and Farmview Road about one mile south of Nokesville between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
• There will be various lane closures on I-66, east and west, between U.S. 29 (Exit 43) near Gainesville and Va. 234 (Exit 44) about one mile east of Gainesville. Closures will also affect the ramps to and from U.S. 29 (Exit 43) in Gainesville. Eastbound work will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and westbound work will take place from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Estimated completion is fall 2010. Currently, the eastbound left lane is closed from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• The right lane of Va. 28 (Centreville Road) north at Yorkshire Lane and the Fairfax County line, about 3 miles north of Manassas will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Friday.
