People who are feeling a little financial pinch can catch a break between Friday and Sunday when they can purchase certain items tax-free, according to the Virginia Department of Taxation.
Items that are exempt from the 5 percent state and local taxes include school supplies that cost $20 or less for each item and clothing, including footwear that costs $100 or less for each item, said a department press release.
The department expects that Virginians will save $4 million during the tax holiday.
Everybody can save during the tax holiday since purchases are not required to be for school use, the release said.
