Walk-a-thon scheduled for Saturday

The Christ vs. Crack Ministries will hold its second annual Drug Awareness Walk-A-Thon on Saturday. The event will begin at 10 a.m.
Participants will walk from the Dumfries-Triangle Rescue Squad on Graham Park Road to Merchant Park at the corner of Cameron and Duke streets in Dumfries.
The event is free and will include musical performances and food.
Kimily T. Jenkins is the founder of Christ vs. Crack Ministries. She said that she hopes to open a transitional home to assist those with a history of substance abuse. Jenkins has written a book and play about her voyage from crack to Christ.
A free showing of a movie about Jenkins' life will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Mount Zion Baptist Church, 18410 Chapel Drive, Triangle.
