Golf Pass for dad
Looking for the perfect gift for dad? Now through Saturday receive three free wedges with the purchase of an annual pass plan for Prince William County Park Authority’s three 18-hole golf courses.
Prince William County Park Authority offers an annual pass plan where golfers can play at any of the Park Authority’s 18-hole courses – Forest Greens Golf Club in Triangle, General’s Ridge Golf Course in Manassas Park and Prince William Golf Course in Nokesville.
The annual pass plan is fully reciprocal at all three courses and includes unlimited range balls, unlimited greens fees, reduced rates on cart fees, 10 percent off food and beverages (excluding alcohol and tobacco), 10 percent off regularly priced pro shop merchandise, eligibility for all pass holder events and advance tee time bookings.
Annual pass plans can be purchased by visiting any of the three golf courses. Plans can also be ordered over the phone by calling Forest Greens Golf Club at 703-221-0123, General’s Ridge Golf Course at 703-335-0777 or Prince William Golf Course 703-754-7111.
Kid’s Nite Out
Parents can get a break and give their kids an evening of fun at Sharron Baucom – Dale City Recreation Center’s Kid’s and Toddler’s Nite Out. The event will be held Friday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Kid’s Nite Out is for children in grades 1 through 5. Toddler’s Nite Out is for children ages 1-5. Kid’s and Toddler’s Nite Out will include pizza, crafts, games, a movie and popcorn. The cost is $15 per child. Multiple child discounts are available for siblings only. Pre-registration is required.

‘Ritzy’ ball
The Potomac Chapter, Adjutant General Corps Regimental Association is hosting its annual ball, “Putting on the Ritz,” celebration Saturday at the Waterford Convention Center in Springfield.

Potatoes for food banks
Old Bridge United Methodist Church at 3966 Old Bridge Road will be “bagging” sweet potatoes from the Society of St. Andrew on Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
All groups are welcomed to come help sort and distribute a tractor-trailer load of sweet potatoes to be distributed to various food banks in our area.
Organizations involved in feeding ministries are also welcomed to come by and get bags for their groups.

Tax free week
Virginians have been excused from paying sales taxes on hurricane preparedness supplies. The state’s first Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday begans Sunday and continues through Saturday. During that week, sales tax will not be collected on generators costing $1,000 or less, or on nearly two dozen other items ranging from flashlights to duct tape.
The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1.
Here is a list of tax free items:
Sales price $60 or less
—Artificial ice, blue ice, ice packs and reusable ice.
—Batteries, excluding car and boat batteries.
—Portable self-powered light sources, including flashlights, lanterns and glow sticks.
—Tarpaulins, plastic sheeting, plastic drop cloths and other flexible waterproof sheeting.
—Bungee cords, rope.
—Ground anchor systems or tie-down kits.
—Ratchet straps.
—Duct tape.
—Carbon monoxide detectors.
—Smoke detectors.
—Fire extinguishers.
—Gas or diesel fuel tanks or containers.
—Water storage containers.
—Nonelectric food storage coolers.
—Bottled water.
—Manual can openers.
—Portable self-powered radios, including those with electrical power capability.
—Two-way radios.
—Weather band radios and NOAA weather radios.
