Celebrate in Dumfries
Mark the day the Continental Congress actually voted for American independence by learning about the rich colonial heritage of Dumfries and Prince William County. Join costumed inter-preters from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday for a walk through colonial Dumfries and the Weems-Botts House.
Visitors will learn what made Dumfries a thriving commercial center in northern Virginia and how Prince William County contributed to the American Revolution and American independ-ence.
The cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children. There is no charge for members of Historic Dum-fries Virginia Inc.

Celebrate in Old Town
Old Town is celebrating America Friday with one of the largest fireworks displays in Northern Virginia.  The event is sponsored by the City of Manassas. 
The activities begin at 4 p.m. around the Old Town Train Depot and Manassas Museum Lawn. Enjoy live music by Point Blank, performing classic, contemporary and modern rock and coun-try music at the Train Depot, compete in the Apple Pie Baking Contest at the Harris Pavilion and let the kids enjoy rides such as Acrospring, Dragon Slide and Enchanted Fairies Bounce. 
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and come early to get the best seats on the Manassas Mu-seum Lawn.  The fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m. Rain date for this event is July 5, 2008.

Celebrate in at Signal Hill
The city of Manassas Park sponsors a family event at Signal Hill Park that includes games, food, rides and fireworks. Festivities begin at 3 p.m., with fireworks at dark. Limited parking; $3 per vehicle. Free shuttle bus service from all Omnilink stops along Manassas Drive, Manassas Park VRE parking lot, City Hall, Costello Park Recreation Center, Manassas Park High School and Manassas Park Shopping Cen-ter. No alcohol; cooler checks at entry points. No outside grills, sparklers or other fireworks, skateboards, bicycles or scooters. All dogs must be leashed.
Celebrate in Dale City
“America the Beautiful” is this year’s theme for the annual Dale City Independence Day Cele-bration on Friday morning. The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the corner of Kirkdale Road and Dale Boulevard and ends in the parking lot behind the Comcast payment center, just past the intersec-tion of Dale and Glendale roads. The two-hour long parade will be comprised of more than 500 vehicles, said Dale City Parade Committee Chairman Ernestine S. Jenkins. State Sen. Charles J. Colgan, D-Manassas, will be serving as the parade’s grand marshal. At the end of the parade, there will be a Family Fun Day which will feature entertainment, games, displays, crafts and food. A petting zoo will be one of the many highlights for children.
Celebrate with P-Nats
There will be a fireworks show at the conclusion of the Potomac Nationals-Myrtle Beach Peli-cans game at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge. The fireworks will begin at dusk after the 6:35 p.m. scheduled game.
Celebrate at The Winery at La Grange
Lawn games, food specials, wine tasting and wines by the bottle or glass makes for the perfect place for families to celebrate this summer day.  There are lots of picnic areas inside and outside for some summer fun. Ballroom Dance
The first Sunday Ballroom Dance at the Candy Factory will be held this Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Now you can come at 3:30 p.m. for a half hour beginner’s lesson.  The cost for the lesson is $5 and you are invited to stay for the open dance beginning at 4 p.m.  The cost to participate in the open dance is $10.  Open dances include swing, waltz, fox trot, cha-cha, salsa, rumba, tango and samba.
