The Virginia Department of Transportation reports that work continues on the section of Dale Boulevard that was washed away by heavy rains earlier this week:
• Work is under way removing asphalt, curbs and sidewalks and benching back the soil on both sides of the cut to expose the pipe for inspectio
• Removed soil is being stockpiled on site to be used later for backfill
• Trees are being cut to expose slope
• Weir is cleaned out and is functioning normally with all water flowing through the pipe (new top section is re-moved)
• Sandbags are being installed at the headwall to protect the cut from storm water flow
• Guardrails have been taken down inside the work area
• Additional pedestrian fencing and signs are being installed to add further protection for unauthorized
personnel when unattended
